The international project by Cristian Chironi, centred on the theme of dwelling, has kicked off at the Italian Cultural Institute of Tunis. The initiative is carried out in collaboration with La Boîte – Centre d’Art & d’Architecture, the Embassy of Italy and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Launched in 2015, the project examines the relationship between living, built space and culture.
The artist temporarily resides in buildings designed by Le Corbusier around the world, reflecting on the legacy of modernism and the contemporary dimension of dwelling. Following previous stages in Bologna, Paris, Marseille, Chandigarh, La Plata, Berlin and La Chaux-de-Fonds, the residency at Villa Baizeau marks the Tunis leg of the project, with future destinations including Antwerp, Cambridge, Tokyo, Baghdad and Moscow.
The initiative forms part of the 10th edition of Italian Design Day in the World, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. This year’s theme is: “RE-DESIGN. Regenerating spaces, objects, ideas and relationships”.
