Presentation fourth edition of the WeWorld Index

“The social and economic inclusion of women, young girls and boys and adolescents in Developing Countries is the focus of Italian Cooperation, starting with health, education and emancipation. Women and youth are the key players in the development process, and it is our duty to support their growth and success,” said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mario Giro, in his opening remarks at the Presentation of the fourth edition of the WeWorld Index hosted at the Farnesina today.

The fourth consecutive edition of the WeWorld Index consolidates it as an important instrument to measure the inclusion of boys, girls, adolescents and women in the world. It provides a broad overview through the analysis of indicators and a rich variety of interviews and testimonies on the situation of millions of boys, girls, adolescents and women who are excluded from the possibility of living in a healthy environment, full of educational, economic and social opportunities, safe and away from violence and corruption, open to pluralism and with equal opportunities between men and women.

The Focus of the 2018 Report is on the barriers to an inclusive and high-quality education in Italy and in the world.

The conference will open with remarks by Marco Chiesara, President of WeWorld, Mario Giro, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Internationa Cooperation, and Valeria Fedeli, the Minister of Education, Universities and Research.

The event will be moderated by the Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Development Cooperation, Giorgio Marrapodi.
