Task Force for Disputed Minors

Today the Foreign Ministry’s Directorate General for Italians Abroad hosted the meeting of the Task Force for Disputed Minors, chaired by the same Foreign Ministry. The meeting, which was aimed at taking now consolidated coordinated action, was also attended by representatives of the Ministries of Justice and the Interior. Once again, the meeting served as a useful operational platform from which to concretely manage sensitive cases of disputed minors. During this past year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in close cooperation with the diplomatic and consular network, handled 269 cases of international child abductions, of which 82 in the European Union, 50 in extra-EU Countries, 50 in the Americas, 30 in the Mediterranean and Middle East, 4 in Sub-Saharan Africa and 16 in Asia and Oceania.
