Hearing of the Director General for Italians Abroad, Luigi Maria Vignali, before the Chamber of Deputies

The Director General for Italians Abroad, Luigi Maria Vignali, was heard today in a hearing before the Standing Committee on Italians in the World and Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation chaired by Hon. Simone Billi. At the hearing, the Director General listed the Foreign Ministry’s priorities for the ever-growing number of Italians residing abroad, with a special focus on the new mobility, the digitalization of consular services and the upcoming elections for the European Parliament. The Director General also illustrated the measures in force to safeguard the interests of Italian citizens hit by the crisis in Venezuela and of Italians residing in the United Kingdom. The following debate addressed the specific measures to expand some of the Consular offices planned by the Foreign Ministry pursuant to recent legislative provisions.
