At CyberTech Europe, the most important European event on cybersecurity organised in Rome for the fourth consecutive year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), in association with Leonardo S.p.A., organised an event dedicated to cybersecurity in Italy: “Italian cybersecurity: Challenges and Opportunities”. The Workshop was opened by the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Manlio Di Stefano, and was attended by numerous representatives from the world of institutions, businesses and academia and the members of several international delegations.
“Today cybersecurity is a critical factor in all aspects of everyday life,” said Di Stefano. He added: “Italy is actively committed to supporting the efforts of the international community to create a cyberspace based on compliance with international law and in which security, the rule of law, liberty and fundamental human rights are fully respected and interconnected.”
“In the future, wars will be digital. Our Country is staunchly determined to play a relevant role in this context and is developing its defences to assure cybersecurity at national level and the Foreign Ministry is in the forefront in promoting the Italian cybersecurity system,” said the Undersecretary.
Di Stefano concluded emphasising that “the Italian government has strongly supported innovation, helping small and medium-sized enterprises in the digital transformation process. Italy will be one of the leaders in this technological revolution; thanks to the legendary Italian creativity applied to cybersecurity, I am convinced that Italian talents will make a decisive contribution in building a more secure world.”
At the event, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation presented the brochure “Cybersecurity in Italy: new opportunities for business”, coordinated by the MAECI with the contribution of the Department of Information for the Security of the Republic at the Prime Minister’s Office (DIS), the Ministry of Defence, ICE-Agency, Confindustria and CINI, to illustrate the national cybersecurity architecture and the points of excellence of the companies operating in the sector without overlooking the importance of the network of universities and its decisive contribution. The MAECI is planning numerous initiatives dedicated to Italian Cybersecurity companies, whose strategic excellence is decisive for the success at international level of Italy’s scientific and commercial efforts in this sector.
