From today, visitors can download from the Collezione Farnesina (Foreign Ministry Collection) website (www.collezionefarnesina.esteri.it ) the pdf file of the second issue of the series I Quaderni della Collezione Farnesina, entitled Art and Technology of the Third Millennium. Scenarios and Protagonists, edited by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi and Valentino Catricalà, published by Electa.
The book contains an original overview of the relationship between art and new technologies, from the last decades of the 20th century to the most recent experimental works. In particular, it investigates research into Artificial Intelligence, posthuman, the relations between art and the web, extended reality and the use of video in today’s world, experimenting with sound. It ends with a focus on eighty-six Italian artists who work in this field, in Italy and abroad.
The theme of this issue will be at the centre of four webinars organised by the Italian Institutes of Culture in Amsterdam, Washington, San Francisco and Vienna, in connection with the third edition of the “Contemporary Art Day – Italian Contemporary Art” event (5-11 December 2020). Participants in the webinar will include the authors Cesare Biasini Selvaggi and Valentino Catricalà and the artists Formafantasma and Jeroean Junte, Danilo Correale, Elisa Giardina Papa and Martina Menegon.
