Minister for Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino will open the plenary session of the Missile Technology Control Regime Meeting (MTCR), on Wednesday 16 October 2013 at 15:00 at the foreign ministry in Rome, on the 25th anniversary of the first plenary session of the Regime, also held in Rome, in 1988.
As of October Italy will be chairing the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), a permanent multilateral mechanism currently made up of 34 Member States, employed in countering the proliferation of vectors for the transport of weapons of mass destruction (nuclear, chemical and bacteriological), cited by the United Nations Security Council as a threat to international peace and security.
Journalists and camera operators interested in covering Minister Bonino’s speech are asked to apply for accreditation by completing the interactive form available at the link http://mae.accreditationsystem.info/ITA/Indice.asp to which all required documentation can be attached in digital format.
If in exceptional cases it is not possible to complete the online accreditation procedure, applications in writing on company letterhead and signed by the director of the organisation concerned—indicating name, surname, date and place of birth, number of a valid ID document and qualification—should be sent by fax to the Press Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (fax 06/3691.7193 – tel. 06/3691.3432).
Accredited members of the press will be admitted at the main entrance to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (left-hand side) beginning at 13:45.
