ACCREDITATION NOTICE: Workshop on “Feeding the Mediterranean Through Knowledge. Towards the legacy of EXPO Milan 2015”

A workshop on “Feeding the Mediterranean Through Knowledge. Towards the legacy of EXPO Milan 2015” will take place at the Farnesina from 9.30 to 13.00 on Monday 26 January 2015. Participants will include representatives of Italian, international and Mediterranean institutions and organisations.

The proceedings will be opened by the Director General for Development Cooperation, Giampaolo Cantini.

The aim of the event is to present the results achieved by the Feeding Knowledge (FK) programme in its 3 years of activity and to discuss a policy paper containing key recommendations for the creation of an effective system of food security knowledge in the Mediterranean.

The Feeding Knowledge programme, promoted by EXPO Milan 2015, is being implemented by the Centre International de Hautes Etudes Agronomiques Méditerranéennes (CIHEAM) in Bari and the Politecnico di Milano (METID).

The key message that the programme aims to disseminate through the policy paper is the importance of creating a comprehensive system of knowledge on food security issues in the Mediterranean covering issues such as research and innovation, needs evaluation and the creation and transfer of research solutions. This is only possible through the identification of strategies to develop and share knowledge, with the support of appropriate methods and instruments.
