The event “Private Sector for Development Opportunity: Opportunity and Commitment of Italian Cooperatives” will take place at 9:30 on Friday 30 January at the foreign ministry in Rome. The sessions will be introduced by Farnesina Director General for Development Cooperation Giampaolo Cantini, and will conclude with a speech by Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mario Giro.
The event, conceived by the Directorate in conjunction with the Alliance for Italian Cooperatives to launch a debate with the new international cooperation actors (cooperatives and private sector more in general), will analyse the new intervention possibilities offered by the cooperation reform law.
Other scheduled speakers are to include Rosario Altieri, Mauro Lusetti and Maurizio Gardini of the Alliance for Italian Cooperatives, the Hon. Lia Quartapelle, President of the Lower House Development Cooperation Intergroup, Marcela Villareal, Director of the Partnership, Advocacy and Capacity Development of FAO, Giovanni Camilleri, UNDP Global Coordinator for Local Development and Sergio Gatti, Director General of Federcasse Bcc.
