ACCREDITATION NOTICE – Signing of the Convention between MAECI, the Italian Development Cooperation Agency and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Farnesina, 15 July 2016)

Today, Friday 15 July 2016, at 4 p.m., the Farnesina will host the signing of the Convention between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the Italian Development Cooperation Agency (AICS) and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), at the presence of Deputy Foreign Minister Mario Giro.

The Convention, to be signed by Ambassador Cantini on behalf of MAECI, by Ms Frigenti for AICS and by Mr Bini Smaghi for CDP, is pursuant to a provision contained in Law No. 125/2014, which singles out the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti as the organization appointed to act as the financing body of international development cooperation efforts. This is one of the most significant and innovative elements of the reform, which aims to attract private resources for the implementation of cooperation interventions.

The Convention aims to regulate the parties’ reciprocal relationships in managing the financial aspects of cooperation initiatives, cooperation efforts financed with concessional loans and innovative financing forms involving European or international financial organizations or EU programmes.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the event are requested to apply for accreditation by 1 p.m. today at the following e-mail address: dgcs.comunicazione.visibilita@esteri.it. Accredited journalists, photographers and TV crews should enter the Ministry from the main entrance – right-hand side (Sala Ospiti) – from 3:30 p.m.
