​Press Accreditation Notice – Press Conference of Minister Alfano on the programmes approved by the Joint Development Cooperation Committee (Farnesina, 2 October 2017)

On Monday 2 October at 12:00 pm, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, holds a press conference at the Sala de Grenet at the Farnesina on programmes and initiatives recently approved by the Joint Development Cooperation Committee for more than 60 million euros. “Among the recipients  of the programmes and initiatives that were approved this afternoon,” said the  Minister, “there are countries that play a key role in  managing migration flows, such as Tunisia, Libya and Sudan.” The Minister emphasised: “With respect to  Libya, our approach to the management of migration  flows, based on a combination of solidarity and security, won unanimous  support at the UN General Assembly. On that occasion, we pressed ahead with the request that the  UNHCR and the IOM return to that country as soon as  possible.” He went on: “In particular the Committee approved an environmental  health programme for the city of Tripoli and a programme to benefit  disadvantaged communities in Tunisia, both to be financed through the Fund for  Africa.” The Committee also adopted measures in Bosnia and Herzegovina,  Afghanistan, and Pakistan and two aid credits to revitalise the cultural  and natural heritage and to improve the juvenile penal system in Guatemala. The Minister concluded: “It  is further evidence of the attention we pay to Latin America and in particular  to sectors that are key for its socio-economic development.” ​Journalists, photographers and TV crews are  requested to apply for accreditation in one of the following ways:

        –   by sending an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International  Cooperation’s Institutional Press and Communication Service at: accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (Tel. + 39 06/3691.3432 or 8573 or  8210), attaching the letter of his/her media organisation (or press  card) and, for members of the foreign press, a Note Verbale released by the Rome  Embassy of the media organisation’s country.    
Accreditation badges must be collected in person at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  and International Cooperation – main entrance – right-hand side – Sala Ospiti, from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.    Accredited journalists,  photographers and TV crews for the joint press point between Minister Alfano and the Libyan Deputy Premier Ahmed Maitig at 10:00 may also attend this press conference.
