Accreditation note for the UN SDG 16 Conference – Peace, Justice and Institutions in the 2030 Agenda (Farnesina, 27-29 May 2019)

From 27 to 29 May next, the UN Conference on SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Institutions of Agenda 2030 will be hosted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the title “Peaceful, Just and inclusive Societies: SDG16 implementation and the path towards leaving no one behind“. 

 

Around 250 delegates from Member States, International Organizations and civil society are expected to attend the Conference. 

 

The High Level opening session, open to the press, will be held at the International Conference Hall on Monday 27th, from 9.30 am to 10.15 am in the presence of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Del Re, and the Secretary General of the Farnesina, Elisabetta Belloni.

The Conference is the main forum for discussing and contributing to the global review of SDG 16 scheduled to take place on the occasion of the United Nations High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York next July. 

 

In addition to the high level plenary sessions, there will be sessions for discussing the following topics: links between peace and development; access to justice and the rule of law; building sound institutions; crisis and conflict situations; protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms; fight against corruption, organized crime and illicit financial flows; inclusive, transparent and informed access to institutions; and data for monitoring SDG 16. 

 

report will be drawn up by the organizers reflecting the discussions held during the conference which will act as a formal input to the UN High Level Political Forum of next July, which among other topics envisages the revision of SDG 16.

 Accredited journalists, photographers and TV crews may enter the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation from the main entrance – left-hand side – at 10.30 am.
