On Tuesday 19 November 2019, at 11 a.m., the Farnesina will host the presentation of the Guidelines for Italian Detainees Abroad, a brief handbook containing the most important information and consular assistance procedures in case of detention of Italian nationals abroad. The aim of the event is to highlight the considerable amount of assistance work carried out by the Italian diplomatic and consular network in favour of Italian detainees.
Following the Resolution on Italian citizens detained abroad, approved by the extraordinary Committee for the protection and promotion of human rights of the Italian Senate, the Directorate General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation drafted the Guidelines containing the most important information and procedures for consular assistance in case of detention of Italian nationals abroad.
The event, open to the Press, will be attended by the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Manlio Di Stefano, the Director General for Italians Abroad, Luigi Maria Vignali, and the Head of the Department of the penitentiary administration of the Ministery of Justice, Francesco Basentini. The event will also be attended by Mr Denis Cavatassi, who will give a testimony.
