On Friday, 13 December 2019, from 9:15 a.m to 4:00 p.m., the Farnesina will host the Italy and Central Asia Conference entitled “Strenghtening mutual understanding, cooperation and partnership”, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Institute for International Political Studies – ISPI.
The morning session (9:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) will open with remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi di Maio, along with ISPI President, Giampiero Massolo. The session will be open to the press.
The event will be attended, among others, by the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Manlio Di Stefano along with the Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Chingiz Aidarbekov, Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov,Tajikistan, Sirodjdin Muhriddin, and the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Undersecretary Di Stefano will chair the session and deliver the closing remarks.
The Conference will be attended also by Roberto Morassut, Undersecretary, Ministry of the Environment, Peter Burian, EU Special Representative for Central Asia; Bruno Balvanera, EBRD Managing Director for Central Asia; Werner Liepach, Director General, ADB Central and West Asia Department; Lilia Burunciuc, Regional Director for Central Asia, World Bank; Zafar Makhmudov, Executive Director, ECO CAREC; Alessandro Decio, CEO, SACE; Carlo Maria Ferro, President ICE – Italian Trade Agency; Matteo Codazzi, CEO, Cesi SpA and Mario Serio, President, Italferr.
