REMINDER: Media Accreditation Note – Conference of Italian Missionaries in the World (Foreign Ministry, 28 October 2021)

On Thursday 28 October, the “Conference of Italian Missionaries in the World” will be held at the Foreign Ministry.

The event is intended to highlight the humanitarian activities of Italian missionaries as a means for promoting and multiplying Italy’s global presence and supporting Italian expats. Italian missionary action in the most diverse fields, from education to professional training and health care, is an essential lever for the social promotion of local communities and the defence of fundamental human rights.

The conference will be attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, and by Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See. The event will be opened by the Director General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies, Luigi Maria Vignali, and will be attended by Alberto Melloni, Professor of the History of Christianity at the University of Modena-Reggio Emilia.

The conference will be attended by Italian missionaries in the five continents, who will talk about their experience in the field in a panel moderated by Director Vignali: Father Luca Bergamaschi, on behalf of Operation Mato Grosso; for Oceania, from Darwin, Australia, Sister Anna Molinari, a Canossian missionary; for Asia, from Yangon, Myanmar, Father Livio Maggi, from the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions; for Africa, from Johannesburg, South Africa, Sister Maria de Lurdes Lodi Rissini, a Scalabrinian missionary; and finally for Europe, from Jerevan, Armenia, Sister Benedetta Carugati, from the Congregation of the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. The session will be closed by a speech delivered by the Secretary General of the CGIE (General Council of Italians Living Abroad), Michele Schiavone.

The Conference will be concluded at 13:00 by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Benedetto Della Vedova.

The event will be open to the press.

In view of the regulations in force on social distancing, a limited number of press representatives will be admitted into the Foreign Ministry: only one journalist and only one cameraman and/or photographer per media organisation/agency.

 

The Conference will also be live streamed on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

 

Due to limitations of space media accreditations will be granted on a first-come-first-served basis and only accredited media representatives will be admitted to the conference venue at the Foreign Ministry. Media representatives who do not receive confirmation of accreditation shall not be admitted.

NB: please remember that you will need to show a “green pass” to enter the Foreign Ministry.

 

Journalists, photographers and camera operators interested in covering the event may apply for accreditation no later than 10:00 on 27 October in one of the following ways:

•             ONLINE at the link https://portaleaccreditamento.esteri.it, attaching the required digital documentation (letter by the relevant organisation and, for representatives of foreign press organisations, a Note Verbale issued by the Embassy in Rome of the interested Country)

•             VIA EMAIL at accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06/3691.3432 – 06/3691.8573) attaching the above-mentioned documentation.

 

Please note that it will not be possible to accept new accreditation requests on the days of the event. Accredited journalists and camera operators shall be admitted to the Foreign Ministry via the main entrance, left hand side, from 8:30 until no later than 9:15, subject to prior temperature control and provided that they are wearing a face mask and any other personal protective equipment recommended by the applicable regulations.
