MEDIA ACCREDITATION NOTE FOR THE CONFERENCE OF DIRECTORS OF ITALIAN CULTURAL INSTITUTES – NAPLES, 29 JULY 2022

The Conference of the Directors of Italian Cultural Institutes (IIC) will be held at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples on 28 and 29 July 2022 to offer an opportunity to discuss the principal issues linked to Italy’s current cultural promotion policy in the world through debates, workshops, and working groups. The event will be attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi di Maio, the Directors of the IICs, numerous top-ranking public officials and institutional dignitaries, as well as almost 100 officers from the Cultural Promotion Department on duty in Rome.    

The Conference proceedings will open in the morning of 28 July with the greetings and preliminary remarks by the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Benedetto Della Vedova and the Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, Pasquale Quito Terracciano. 

The day will continue with working sessions dedicated to opening a debate between the Directors and Central Administration officials to highlight the key issues for the operation of Italian Cultural Institutes in the world.

On the following day, the 4th working session – moderated by Alessandro De Pedys, Deputy Director General and Principal Director for the Promotion of the Italian Culture and Language, and by Filippo La Rosa, Head of the Office for Italian Cultural Institutes at the Directorate General of Public Diplomacy (DGDP) – will begin at 2:50 PM and will shift the focus of the debate onto the main cultural issues in Italy, especially in Naples and the Campania Region, in line with the Farnesina’s project to incorporate local cultural services in Italy’s cultural promotion network. This last session will be enlivened with contributions, among others, by Sylvain Bellenger, Director General of the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, Director General of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, Angela Tecce, President of the Fondazione Donnaregina, Rosanna Romano, Director General for Cultural Policies and Tourism of the Campania Region, and Giovanna Melandri, President of the Fondazione MAXXI.

The Conference will close at 5 PM with remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi di Maio, the Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, the Director of the Regional Directorate for the Museums of Campania – Ministry of Culture, Marta Ragozzino, the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, the President of the “Made in Cloister” Foundation, Rosa Alba Impronta, and the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi.

Accredited media representatives may access the Teatro San Carlo – from the main entrance on Piazza del Plebiscito – on 29 July, from 2:30 to 4:45 PM, duly wearing the requested FFP2 mask.
