“Conviviality, Sustainability and Innovation”
7th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World
Farnesina – 18 November 2022, 12 PM
Friday, 18 November 2022 at 12 PM, the 7th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, called “Conviviality, Sustainability and Innovation: the ingredients of Italian cuisine for people’s health and the protection of the planet”, will be held at the Farnesina in the International Conference Hall.
The event – moderated by Maddalena Fossati Dondero, Editor-in-Chief of La Cucina Italiana, the event’s media partner, and opened by the Director General for Country Promotion, Lorenzo Angeloni – will be attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, the Deputy Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Valentino Valentini, together with qualified representatives of the Italian agro-industrial production chain, including Federalimentare, Filiera Italia, FIPE, ITA, ENIT and Slow Food, as well as the well-known Michelin-starred restaurateur Alessandro Pipero, who will present his philosophy of innovation in the Roman gastronomic tradition and openness to other cuisines, thus linking up to Rome’s candidacy for Expo 2030.
Now at its 7th edition, the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is an integrated promotion initiative that aims to enhance the excellence of Italian food and wine sectors abroad, supporting exports, internationalisation and incoming tourist flows, by organising targeted events by the network of Embassies, Consulates, Cultural Institutes and ITA offices.
Over 8,000 initiatives have been carried out in this context since 2016 by the network of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Cultural Institutes in over 100 Countries, including in-depth seminars on the Mediterranean diet, meetings with economic operators in the sector, training and demonstration classes, and meetings with chefs. Among the more than 1,000 initiatives planned for the 2022 edition, an exhibition conceived by Slow Food – called “Heroes of Food” and focused on food sovereignty – will be presented in many Countries, as well as a video-training on the identity of products and cultures of Italian regions, produced by the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo.
The conference will be a moment of reflection on very current issues, such as the debate of front-of-pack labelling and the Mediterranean diet as a healthy, balanced and sustainable food model, but will also be a chance to outline a system approach to these issues.
Journalists, photographers and TV crews may follow the event in person. The event will also be streamed on the YouTube channel of the Farnesina.
