UPDATE: CHANGE OF TIME – PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
On Friday 13 October, the 11th Italy – Latin America and Caribbean Conference will be held at the Farnesina.
The Conference, now in its 11th edition, will be chaired by the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and will bring together in Rome the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the countries of the Latin American and the Caribbean, Embassy representatives, Italian institutional representatives, technicians and experts. The Italy-Latin America and Caribbean Conferences, organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) in collaboration with the Italo-Latin American International Organisation (IILA), have established themselves as an important biennial appointment for an all-round discussion between Italy and Latin American and Caribbean region.
This year’s edition intends to foster the relaunch of political relations with the region, enhancing what unites us to face the new global challenges, developing in particular certain themes such as the diplomacy of growth; the promotion of investments and equal and advantageous partnerships for all the actors involved; cooperation in the fight against organised crime and in the fields of justice and security; and cooperation on cultural, academic, and scientific-technological issues.
On the morning of 13 October, the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will address the Opening Session (9:30 a.m.), streamed on the Farnesina’s YouTube channels and on the esteri.it website. The works will be divided into 2 thematic sessions, closed to the press. The first, entitled “Italy and Latin America and the Caribbean Facing the Challenges of a Changing World”, will examine the spaces for cooperation in the face of new global challenges, from the climate emergency to value chains, energy and food security. The second, entitled “Growing Together”, will focus on growth diplomacy and equal economic partnerships. This will be followed by an event dedicated to legal diplomacy, a discussion at the level of the heads of the National Law Enforcement Authorities on cooperation in the crucial areas of justice and security.
At 2:30 p.m., Deputy Prime Minister Tajani will hold a press conference.
The conclusions of the proceedings (6:30 – 7:00 p.m.) will be streamed.
