REMINDER PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE

Italy-US: International Cooperation

on Emerging Biotechnologies and Life Sciences

Farnesina, 14 November 2023

 

On Tuesday 14 November 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the event “Italy-United States: International Cooperation on Emerging Biotechnologies and Life Sciences” will be held at the International Conference Hall of the Farnesina. 

The meeting will be opened by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani. The Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, the Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci and the US Ambassador to Italy, Jack Markell, will then speak. 

The event will focus on Italy’s growing role in the biotechnology sector, which sees a fruitful interaction between the public and private sectors, involving pharmaceuticals, chemistry, medical devices and biotech, increasingly strategic in light of the recent pandemic experience. This is the first high-level institutional and business meeting between Italian and US stakeholders active in the biotech and life sciences sector. 

The works, which will include several thematic sessions and round tables with representatives from the business, scientific and pharmaceutical industries, will be moderated by Massimo Sideri, columnist for Corriere della Sera and professor at Luiss. 

The event will be streamed live on the Farnesina YouTube channel.  

Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in attending the event may apply for accreditation by sending a request by Monday, 13 November at 1:00 p.m., to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691 3432 – 8573 – 3078 or 8210), attaching the following: 

For representatives of Italian press organisations:

  • copy of an identity document
  • letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.

For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
  • Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.

For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.  

Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen may enter the Farnesina from the Via Macchia della Farnesina entrance (press side), from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

 

Submitting the above-mentioned personal data means authorising the use thereof in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003 and the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679) by the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the data controller, for strictly professional purposes and/or purposes related to the performance of the event in question.
