Inauguration of the exhibition “L’arte salvata all’estero”
Wednesday 13 December at 11:30 a.m., Farnesina
On Wednesday 13 December 2023 at 11:30 a.m., the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will inaugurate the exhibition “L’arte salvata all’estero” (Art Saved Abroad) at the Farnesina, in the presence of the Commander-General of the Carabinieri Corps, Teo Luzi.
This is an initiative that aims at enhancing the collaboration between the Ministry and the Carabinieri Corps in the field of the recovery of works of art illegally removed from Italy. The works on display make up a selection that ranges from archaeological finds – witnesses to the ancient civilisations that followed one another in our country, with Greek, Etruscan and Roman artefacts – to contemporary history, with some diplomatic documents relating to the 1919 peace negotiations.
Some of the recovered works of art will be exhibited at the Farnesina to provide an overview of the most significant successes recorded in recent years, following complex investigations and operations conducted in cooperation with the diplomatic-consular network, which led to the identification abroad of artefacts stolen from Italy’s museum heritage and archaeological sites.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in covering the inauguration may apply for accreditation by sending a request by today, Tuesday 12 December at 6:00 p.m. to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691. 3432 – 8573 – 3078 or 8210), attaching the following:
