PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
Today, Monday 29 January, about 14 injured Palestinian children will arrive at Ciampino airport at 9 p.m. on an Air Force flight coordinated by the Joint Operations Command. They will be treated at Italian hospitals, accompanied by their families.
This first group of children will be welcomed by the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, who will make brief statements to the members of the press.
The flight is part of a broader operation that will continue in the coming days, with the aim of completing the overall transfer of 100 injured Palestinian minors and their carers to the Bambin Gesù hospital in Rome, the Gaslini hospital in Genoa, the Meyer hospital in Florence and the Rizzoli hospital in Bologna.
For several days, a mission coordinated by the Crisis Unit of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with personnel from the Italian Embassy in Cairo, the Italian Ministry of Defence, the Italian Intelligence Agencies, the Italian Ministry of Health and the hospitals involved, has been at the Rafah Crossing Point to prepare, in close contact with Italian diplomatic offices in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, evacuation measures for the injured, involving the Italian Navy Ship Vulcano, moored in the Egyptian port of Al-Arish.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested may apply for accreditation no later than Monday 29 January at 7:30 p.m., as follows:
BY SENDING AN EMAIL to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it, (tel. 06/3691.3432 –8573-8210), to which the required documentation must be attached (letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation and, for representatives of foreign press organisations, also Verbal Note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented). The request must indicate the model and number plate of the vehicle with which they will travel to the airport.
Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen must present themselves directly at Ciampino Militare airport, 31st Wing, no later than 8:30 p.m.
