On Monday 5 February, at around 07.45 a.m., the Navy ship Vulcano, which left a few days ago from the port of Al Arish, Egypt, will dock at the Fornelli pier of the port of La Spezia, with 60 Palestinian minors in need of specialist medical treatment and their accompanying persons on board.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, will welcome this second group of Palestinian children, after having welcomed the group that arrived in Ciampino airport on 29 January with an Air Force flight..
He will be accompanied by the Commander-in-Chief of the Naval Squadron, Admiral Aurelio de Carolis, as representative of the Defence Ministry.
On the sidelines, Minister Tajani will make statements to the press present there.
The arrival of the Vulcano ship is part of a broader operation for the assistance and care of injured Palestinian minors, with their accompanying persons, at the Bambin Gesù hospital in Rome, the Gaslini hospital in Genoa, the Meyer hospital in Florence, the Rizzoli hospital in Bologna, the Buzzi paediatric hospital and the Pini orthopaedic hospital in Milan.
In recent days, a mission coordinated by the Farnesina Crisis Unit, together with staff from the Embassy in Cairo, and from the Defence, Intelligence, Health and Interior Ministries, as well as staff from the hospitals involved, had begun preparations at the Rafah crossing point, in close contact with the Diplomatic Missions in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, for the evacuation of the wounded people.

In agreement with the Prefecture of La Spezia, the accredited journalists will be accompanied, by shuttle bus, inside the port to attend the landing operations in the specially identified area.
