INAUGURATION OF THE “GIARDINO DEI GIUSTI DELLA FARNESINA”
Tuesday 12 March 2024
On Tuesday 12 March 2024 at 2:00 p.m. the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and the President of the Gariwo Foundation, Mr. Gabriele Nissim, will inaugurate the “Giardino dei Giusti della Farnesina” in the avenue in front of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, formerly known as the Viale dei Giusti.
The ceremony will include the installation of commemorative plaques of the “Giusti” who have served the Ministry at the trees already present in the Avenue.
The following will be commemorated on the occasion: Guelfo Zamboni, Giuseppe Castruccio, Lucilio Merci, Vittorio Castellani Pastoris, Tommaso De Vergottini, Luca Attanasio, Vittorio Iacovacci, Mustapha Milambo and Pierantonio Costa.
The names were selected by an ad hoc commission set up by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation: these are deceased personalities about whom there are proven historical and biographical elements that support their belonging to the category of the “Giusti”. The initiative was launched at the instigation of the GARIWO Foundation, a non-profit organisation whose aims include the creation of places dedicated to personalities who have distinguished themselves for their commitment to justice and human rights.
