PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE

“Sport e Innovazione Made in Italy”

(Farnesina, 8 May 2024)

 

On 8 May 2024, at 11.00 a.m., in the Sala dei Trattati at the Foreign Ministry, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Antonio Tajani, will open the Conference for presenting the project Sport e Innovazione Made in Italy. It is an initiative that seals the launch of a strategic partnership between the Foreign Ministry, Sport e Salute and ICE-Agenzia, with the aim of promoting Italian excellence and Made in Italy in the world through sport and innovation.

The Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, the Presidents of the Italian Swimming Federation, Paolo Barelli, the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation, Angelo Binaghi, the Italian Athletics Federation, Stefano Mei – who are collaborating with Sport e Salute on the project – the President of ICE AgenziaMatteo Zoppas, and the President of Sport e SaluteMarco Mezzaroma, will be present. The same holds true for the Olympic and multiple World Champion swimmer, Gregorio Paltrinieri, the Olympic 4X100 metres relay champion, Lorenzo Patta, the Davis Cup captain, Filippo Volandri, and the world athletics champion, Fiona May.

Between May and June, the Foro Italico in Rome will host three major sporting events: the  Internazionali BNL d’Italia Tennis Championships, the European Athletics Championships, and the Swimming Championships Internazionali di Nuoto IP Trofeo Sette Colli. Pivoting on the significant international profile and visibility of the events, from May until September 2024 a structured promotional campaign will be conducted with targeted initiatives, events, content, and exclusive interviews, in which the involvement of great champions is envisaged.

The meeting will be streamed live on the Foreign Ministry’s YouTube channel.

Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in covering the event in person may apply for accreditation by sending a request by Tuesday 7 May at 6:00 p.m. to  accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06/3691-3432 – 8573-3078-8210), attaching the following:

for representatives of Italian press organisations:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card;

For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • copy of an identity document;
  • letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
  • Verbal Note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.

For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request shall be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.

 Accredited journalists and cameramen may have access to the Foreign Ministry from the main entrance, left side, from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. on 8 May 2024.

 

Submitting the above-mentioned personal data means authorising the use thereof, in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree No. 196 of 30 June 2003 and the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679), by the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the data controller, for strictly professional purposes and/or purposes related to the performance of the event in question.
