Arrival in Italy of Palestinian children from the Gaza Strip
(Ciampino Airport – 31st Wing, 13 February 2025)
On Thursday, 13 February 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a special flight provided by the Ministry of Defence will land at Rome Ciampino Airport – 31st Wing, arriving from Egypt. On board will be a group of Palestinian children suffering from cancer, who have been evacuated from the Gaza Strip to receive treatment in Italy.
Welcoming the children and their companions will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, who had announced the operation during his recent mission to Ashdod, Israel.
This initiative has been made possible through the collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, and the Department of Civil Protection, in coordination with the WHO and the European Civil Protection Mechanism, with the support of the Egyptian Ministry of Health. The operation expands Italy’s humanitarian efforts for the civilian population of the Gaza Strip to include medical and healthcare assistance, as part of the Food for Gaza project.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen wishing to cover the arrival are invited to apply for accreditation by sending their request—including full name, place and date of birth, telephone number, a copy of their ID, and professional identity card—to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, 13 February 2025.
Those intending to park their vehicle at the airport are requested to provide the model and licence plate number in their accreditation request.
