PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
Second edition – UNESCO Conference “Cultural Heritage in the 21st Century”
Naples, 4–6 June 2025
From 4 to 6 June 2025, the second edition of the UNESCO Conference “Cultural Heritage in the 21st Century” will take place in Naples, at Castel Capuano.
Italy will host representatives and experts from UNESCO’s 194 Member States to resume the international dialogue—already explored during the first Naples conference in November 2023—on synergies and convergence between the World Heritage Convention and the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
All proceedings will be fully open to the press, who will be able to follow the event from a dedicated media room with audio/video access. The Conference will open on the morning of Wednesday 4 June and will continue until the afternoon of Friday 6 June.
The institutional session will begin at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday 4 June, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, and the UNESCO Director-General, Audrey Azoulay.
Organised jointly by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Culture, with the support of the City of Naples, the Conference will feature six thematic sessions focused on the representativeness and economic dimension of cultural heritage, and on connecting and engaging communities with UNESCO sites.
The entire event will be livestreamed in English and French via UNESCO’s official channels. The ministerial session will also be broadcast in Italian.
