“Don Oreste Benzi: Costruttore di Ponti per la Giustizia Globale e la Solidarietà”

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the event “Don Oreste Benzi: Costruttore di Ponti per la Giustizia Globale e la Solidarietà” (Don Oreste Benzi: Bridge Builder for Global Justice and Solidarity) will be held at Villa Madama, organized on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the founder of the Community Pope John 23rd, an emblematic figure of the Italian Catholic Church of the 20th century.

The event will be opened at 11:00 a.m by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, followed by speeches by the Secretary of State of the Holy See, H.E. Card. Pietro Parolin, and by the President of the Community Pope John 23rd, Matteo Fadda. The program will be divided into two thematic sessions during which direct testimonies of the action of the Community Pope John 23rd, present in more than sixty countries in the world, will be shared, such as the experience of the shelter home, the inclusion of people with disabilities and recovery from addictions. These thematic sessions will provide public actors and civil society a forum for discussion on their joint commitment in the promotion of peace, mediation and human security.

Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in attending the event can apply for accreditation by sending a requestby 4:00 p.m. on Monday 16 June, by e-mail to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691 8210, 3432 or 8573), as follows:

for representatives of the Italian press organisations:
– a copy of an identity document,
– a letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter -, a copy of professional identity card.

For representatives of foreign press organisations not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
– copy of an identity document;
– letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
– Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.

For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request shall be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.

Badges shall be collected in person at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, main entrance, left sideon the day of the event (Tuesday 17 June), between 9:00 and 9:45 a.m.

As it is not possible to reach Villa Madama with private vehicles, accredited journalists will be transported to Villa Madama with a shuttle service operating from the main entrance of the Foreign Ministry (round trip), available until the conclusion of the event.
