Presentation of the 25th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World
“Italophonia: language beyond borders”
(MAXXI Auditorium, 3 October 2025)

 

On Friday, 3 October 2025, from 09:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Auditorium of the National Museum of 21st Century Arts (MAXXI) in Rome will host the presentation of the 25th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the foremost institutional event dedicated to the promotion of the Italian language. The event will provide an opportunity for reflection between institutions and civil society on the promotion of the Italian language and culture abroad, in view of the First International Conference on Italophonia, to be held on 19 November 2025.

Following a musical introduction by students of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, the event will be opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, together with the President of the MAXXI Foundation, Maria Emanuela Bruni.

Contributions will then be given by the President of the Dante Alighieri Society, Andrea Riccardi, and the Ambassador of Switzerland to Italy, Roberto Balzaretti. The institutional session will conclude with the screening of the promotional video of the Week of the Italian Language in the World.

The event will continue with the following Round Tables and an interlude by the Italian-Somali poet Rahma Nur:

  • Round Table on the promotion of Italian culture abroad, moderated by journalist Laura Pezzino, with the participation, among others, of designer Maria Grazia Chiuri and writer Andrea Bajani, winner of the 2025 Premio Strega.
  • Round Table on strategies for promoting the Italian language worldwide, moderated by Rai journalist Zouhir Louassini, with contributions from Italian and foreign experts and intellectuals.

Journalists, photographers and cameramen wishing to follow the event may request accreditation by 12:00 p.m. on 2 October by registering at https://portaleaccreditamento.esteri.it and uploading the required documentation.

Those already registered on the online Portal and who have received confirmation from the system may access their profile and select participation in the event.

Badges must be collected in person at the MAXXI Museum, Via Guido Reni – Entrance 4A, between 8:30 a.m. and approximately 9:15 a.m.
