Matera – Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2026
(Farnesina, 24 February 2026)


On Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
, the Farnesina will host the event Matera – Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2026. 

The event will be attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, the President of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi, the Mayor of Matera, Antonio Nicoletti, and the Director-General of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, Rita Orlando.

Representatives of the countries of the Union for the Mediterranean, foreign Cultural Institutes, expert groups and research centres from the Mediterranean area will also participate. During the event, particular emphasis will be given to Morocco, in light of the twinning between Matera and the city of Tetouan.

Journalists, photographers and cameramen wishing to attend may apply for accreditation by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 23 February, by registering via the link https://portaleaccreditamento.esteri.it and attaching the requested documentation.

Those who are already registered on the online portal and have received confirmation of their registration may access their profile and select participation in the event.

Accredited press may access the Farnesina from the main entrance, left-hand side, between 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
