Challenges of Industry 4.0, Italy-Germany Industrial Forum in Prague

The challenges the Czech Republic must face in its path towards Industry 4.0 were at the core of the Industrial Forum of Italy-Germany-Czech Republic held in Prague on 25 April. The common goal was to improve productivity now that the European economy appears to be slowing down. The forum, called “Approaching Industry 4.0: a systemic challenge for Humans”, was organised by the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Czech-German Chamber of Commerce, with the support of the Italian and German Embassies. In his opening address, Italian Ambassador Aldo Armati said that the forum “represents the culmination of a process launched some time ago. The synergies between Italy and Germany are an example of virtuous cooperation”. He went on to say: “Over the last four years, Italy has made a considerable effort to support the Czech industry on its journey towards economy 4.0, also through the Italian Association of Mechatronic Automation, with the full support of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade and Agencies of Investment and Business Development”. Following the remarks of the Vice President of the Czech Industry and Trade, Ondrej Maly, and German Ambassador, Christoph Israng, the President of the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gianfranco Pinciroli, summarised: “4.0 doesn’t only mean building robots and cutting jobs. If we put industrial automation and EU fundamental principles together, 4.0 also means a transformation of industry, of factories, and of schools. Or rather: a transformation of the way of life.” He went on to say that trade relations between Italy and the Czech Republic grew by more than 30%, and the industrial sector accounts for 50% of that total. The forum also saw the participation of the president of Brembo, Alberto Bombassei.
