To celebrate the anniversary of the signing of the Italy-U.S. Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement, the Italy-U.S. Joint Commission (JCM) on science and technology held its 13th meeting in Washington to discuss strengthening the cooperation programmes already under way and new cooperation projects in sectors such as physics, telecommunications, health, forestry and resilience to natural disasters.
The meeting was held at the Italian Embassy and was attended by more than 200 Italian and American scientists. In particular, the United States Department of Energy and the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research signed a cooperation agreement to build particle accelerators at Fermilab. Moreover, 18 new Italian research projects co-managed with U.S. public institutions, will be financed by the Italian Government.
The meeting closed with the signing of a joint declaration at the United States State Department.
