Two Italian photographers travelled through Japanese cities taking photos with mobile phones instead of their professional cameras. The photographic exhibition entitled ‘Un bagaglio leggero’ by Giorgio Cosulich de Pecine e Giulio Napolitano, gives a visual rendering of the artists’ journey. It opened at the Tokyo Italian Cultural Institute on 23 January, where it will run until 9 February.
Giorgio Cosulich de Pecine and Giulio Napolitan, who already experimented along these lines, show a softer approach towards capturing the human and cultural aspects of a completely different world, while at the same time preserving the expressive and narrative quality of the pictures themselves.
Both photographers were born in Rome, and have worked for various photography agencies and leading international magazines. They also founded the web platform ’14&15 Mobile Photographers’.
