The Italian Embassy in Brasilia hosted the presentation of the photography book “Cenas Venezianas (Scene Veneziane)”, by photographer Francisco De Assis Andrade, which pays homage to the Carnival of Venice. The winner of the Premio Pini 2017, the book contains texts in Portuguese, Italian and English. The book was written at the end of the photographer’s numerous trips to Venice within a project aimed at singling out the common denominators that make the Venice Carnival similar to the principal fancy-dress carnivals in Brazil. Through a large number of black and white pictures of the lagoon’s most famous monuments and of Venetian masks, the author ushers readers in a journey of the Serenissima across time. The contributions at the presentation event were moderated by the editor Valdemir Cunha. Some of the photographs drawn from the book will remain on display at the Embassy’s Nervi Hall through the months of June and July during “Embassy Open Door” event.
