Abu Dhabi: Benefit concert to support Venice

Within the framework of the solidarity campaign for Venice promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation following the damage caused by the exceptional ‘acqua alta’ phenomenon of last 12 November, the Italian Institute of Culture in Abu Dhabi and the Italian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates organised a concert of a String Quartet with Reciting Voice on 11 December.

The composer, Silvia Colasanti, will conduct the Quartetto Guadagnini, among the most renowned European chamber music ensembles with a classical and romantic repertoire. The Reciting Voice will be that of Elio De Capitani, a well-known actor and director, who will read poetry by Mariangela Gualtieri on the theme of ecology and environmental emergencies. The title of the concert “Earth, I walk upon Thee” is a citation of a verse by Mariangela Gualtieri: “Terra, io ti cammino”.

The concert, sponsored by Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan, the Minister of State for Tolerance of the UAE, and the Emirates Red Crescent, with the auspices of the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFAIC), was held at the Abu Dhabi Theatre, one of the city’s historical landmarks.
