Undersecretary Scalfarotto at Top200: competitiveness and exports

This afternoon, the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ivan Scalfarotto, spoke at the Top200, an event organised by Assolombarda and dedicated to the presentation of a research study on the largest businesses based in Milan, Monza, Brianza and Lodi.

On commenting the research results, the Undersecretary highlighted how especially some of the region’s enterprises, out of the whole Italian business scene, assure a high level of competitiveness in key export sectors such as machinery, automotive, chemical and pharmaceutical and electronics. The Undersecretary said: “In 2018, Lombardy exported goods worth more than 127 billion euros, accounting for 27.3% of our total exports. In practice, of every 3 euros worth of exports, just under 1 euro was produced in Lombardy. It represents a virtuous business model for which the Government is called on to develop a credible strategy consisting of specific objectives and instruments to support exports and the internationalisation of our companies.”
