Nicaragua: celebrations to mark the centenary of the birth of Federico Fellini

The centenary of the birth of Federico Fellini has been celebrated in Nicaragua with a ceremony at the National Cinemateque that was filmed by the media and was broadcast on national television.

During the ceremony Idania Castillo, Director of the National Cinemateque, described the personality of Maestro Fellini and his work. The Ambassador of Italy, Amedeo Trambajolo, provided an overview of the cultural initiatives that are planned for the coming year to commemorate the birth of this important protagonist of Italian and international cinema, and which will include a travelling exhibition of Federico Fellini’s drawings as well as screenings of his most celebrated films.

Nicaragua can be proud of its good film production facilities and the widespread public interest in art cinema.

Taking this year’s event as a beginning, Nicaragua will be able to further develop its collaboration with Italy, which is already active as part of the “Ibermedia” programme.
