Minsk: Italian flag illuminates the National Library

Since last night the Italian flag illuminates the large glass tower of the National Library in Minsk as a sign of solidarity with Italy for the coronavirus emergency. The initiative, relaunched on social media with the hashtag #solidarietàconItalia, will last until March 31 in one of the country’s iconic buildings.

“Belarusians remember that Italy was one of the first countries to come to Belarus’ aid after the Chernobyl nuclear tragedy,” said Italian Ambassador Mario Baldi. “Hundreds of thousands of Belarusian children have felt the great love of Italian families, and for many of them Italy has become a second home. Now it is the Belarusians who give us strength and hope for a better future.
