The lockdown decided for Coronavirus emergency does not halt the tribute to Federico Fellini in progress in Sao Paulo for the 100th anniversary of his birth. In the Brazilian city, the Italian Institute of Culture has arranged a virtual visit to the exhibition, “The centenary – Fellini in the world”, realized in collaboration with the CCBB – Centro Cultural Banco do Brazil, in memory of the great Italian director. The exhibition set up at the exhibition space of Banco do Brasil, Av. Paulista, is closed to the public due to the COVID-19 emergency.
Two videos will accompany the visit; a short video (link to the video) and a video with commentary in Brazilian and subtitles in Italian (link to the video) that focuses on the highlights of Fellini’s life and art.
The exhibition unfolds through drawings, photos, posters and some of his costumes, reconstructing the path that took him from “Lo sceicco bianco” (1952) to “La Strada” (1954), “Le Notti di Cabiria” (1957), “La dolce vita” (1960), and “8 ½” (1963), with Marcello Mastroianni, one of his favourite actors, to Amarcord (1973), Casanova (1976) and on to his last work “La voce della luna” (1990). A career studded with awards and lived in symbiosis with his life companion and artistic partner, Giulietta Masina.
