The Italian Institute of Culture in Istanbul, together with a well-known international distribution company of Italian cinema, has organised CINEMA ITALIA@TÜRKIYE. This online Italian film festival will take place throughout summer 2020.
The initiative aims at offering the best of recent Italian cinema through an online platform, directly in the homes of Turkish film lovers. Under the coordination of the Italian Embassy in Ankara, and in collaboration with the Consulate General of Istanbul and the Consulate of Izmir, it will be possible to promote the Italian System in the Turkish Republic thanks to its creative industries in the film and audio-visual field.
CINEMA ITALIA@TÜRKIYE will start in June, with a series of six fortnightly appointments. It will offer the Turkish public a selection of the best and most current Italian filmography in original language with Turkish subtitles. The festival, which began on June 6th with a screening of ‘Euforia (Euphoria)’ by Valeria Golino, will end with ‘Ti presento Sofia (This is Sofia)’ by Guido Chiesa on August 15th.
To continue to show Italian cinema, despite the closure of the cinemas, a real virtual cinema with 500 seats has been created, which the Istanbul Cultural Institute will use to bring Italian cinema directly into the homes of the Turkish people.
