G7 – High-Level Transportation Principles

The US G7 Presidency published on 29th July the High-Level Transportation Principles in response to COVID‑19. The document comes from intense consultations to which Italy has offered its contribution through a coordination between MAECI, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Health.

The document proves the utmost importance given by G7 to the transport sector, stressing the need to cooperate transparently and with the aim to restoring confidence in travel and tourism.

G7 members agreed on the importance of a clear and transparent communication to the general public as for the adopted measures. The transport sector’s role in repatriating compatriots from abroad and the objective to protect global supply chains in order to facilitate the movement of essential goods, medical products and agricultural commodities are also pointed out. Furthermore, they appreciated the international coordination between Governments, International Organisations and the private sector, also dwelling on the treatment of Air Crews and Seafarers.
