“Magnifica”, the first solo exhibition of Sara Goldschmied and Eleonora Chiari, curated by Allison Nance, made its debut on 2 September at the Cody Gallery in Washington.
Organised by the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington DC, and International Arts & Artists, in collaboration with the Cody Gallery of Marymount University, the exhibition will remain open until December 4, 2021.
The works on display merge genres of performance art, studio photography, portraiture, and pop. They include a new series of their iconic “Untitled Views”, in which the artists experiment with a technique that involves coloured smoke flares, captured on film and fused with the mirror glass in a unique printing process. The images change their reflections according to the surrounding space and the viewer’s perspective.
Four Goldschmied & Chiari works will be hosted at Villa Firenze, the residence of the Italian Ambassador, Mariangela Zappia.
