Iran: Italian Embassy hosts seminar on environment

“The challenge of sustainable development concerns all of us, and today’s event confirms the sensitivity of Italy towards environmental issues. We believe that only through bilateral and multilateral cooperation it is possible to develop shared strategies, and therefore more effective, to cope with global responsibilities”. In his opening speech at the seminar dedicated to energy transition and the environment, these are the words of the Italian Ambassador to Iran, Giuseppe Perrone. The seminar was organised by the Italian Embassy, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and The European House Ambrosetti, which took place today in Tehran.

In the year of the Italian co-chairmanship of the United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP26) and of the G-20 Presidency, the event, held in a hybrid format and attended by more than 600 Italian and Iranian companies in the Embassy residence, taking its cue from the Ambrosetti Forum in Cernobbio and looking ahead to the seventh edition of the ROME MED DIALOGUES, gathered institutional representatives of the Presidency of the Republic and the Iranian Ministry of Energy, as well as several leading figures from the world of business and think tanks.

The panels gave rise to an in-depth discussion on the respective best practices in the field of energy transition implemented by the two countries, with particular attention to decarbonisation in both the energy and construction sectors.
