On the occasion of the 5th edition of the Italian Design Day in Luxembourg, the Italian Embassy and the Italian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (CCIL) have organised a conference on “Design and Materials: new challenges for a fresh sustainable start of the Made in Italy brand”, during which the participants analysed how the world of design relates to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
At the conference, architect Enrico Frigerio, once again designated “Ambassador of Italian Design” in Luxembourg, spoke about how sustainable architecture designs and builds buildings with a view to minimising their environmental impact, setting as its design goals energy efficiency, improved health, comfort and quality of use for the people who live and work inside them, which can be achieved by integrating appropriate structures and technologies into the building. These are nZEB (Nearly Zero Energy) buildings, featuring high energy efficiency and practically zero consumption.
The conference was also attended by the Director of the “Fonds Belval”, Daniela Di Santo, an Italian architect at the head of the Luxembourg organisation that builds and renovates low-energy buildings and public works, further demonstrating the prestige enjoyed by Italian professional excellence across the world. In particular, Luxembourg is a market that offers great opportunities in the construction sector and the building industry as a whole, where many small, medium and large Italian companies already operate in the realisation of residential and commercial projects, based on increasingly sustainable materials and techniques.
