On October 26, 2021, the Italian Embassy in Berlin hosted a conference on the subject of female entrepreneurship. The event, entitled “Designing future female entrepreneurship -Taking stock from the Italian G20 Presidency”, took its cue from the conclusions of the G20 in Santa Margherita Ligure and the final communication “Women20” on the subject of female empowerment, to focus on the sectors of business and finance.
The initiative, with the participation of the Minister for Equal Opportunities and the Family, Elena Bonetti, was introduced by the Italian Ambassador to Germany, Armando Varricchio, who emphasized the importance of female empowerment both in Italy and in Germany, for the respective economic and financial systems. “We have to support the role of women in the economic field – observed Varricchio – and make it sustainable and visible so that it can contribute to create a model for future generations. Collaborating and working in close contact, the Italian and German W20 delegations proved yet again the extraordinary cooperation and sharing of viewpoints between our two countries”.
“The world of business – said Minister Bonetti – has always supported change, and now is the time to show even more courage in promoting models of environmental and social sustainability, in harmony with the three pillars chosen by the Italian presidency of the G20 that view our planet in its environmental and human entirety. In this scenario, the role of women is crucial: female talent and the creativity of women in business have to be fully valorized on the global scale, and it is our duty to guarantee their full and equal participation in our societies and economies”.
“This a commitment – she continued – that Italy will advance strenuously in the coming months. With the first National Strategy for gender equality for an integrated approach to fostering equal opportunities, and with the Italy Tomorrow Plan in the sphere of Next Generation EU, we are introducing measures to support female employment, entrepreneurship and parenting, including gender certification for enterprises. Women must be able to participate fully in the economic recovery and must take a leading role in a balanced growth that is both inclusive and sustainable”.
Other speakers at the conference included Elvira Marasco and Marina Rogato, respectively Head of the W20 Delegation and Sherpa for Italy, as well as Evelyne De Gruyter, Head of the German W20 Delegation and Marie Christine Oghly, President of the organization Femmes Chefs D’Entreprises Mondiales.
