An exhibition on Murano glass, created in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong, can be visited until November 27 at the Novalis Contemporary Art Design Gallery in Hong Kong.
The history of Venetian glass as an unmatched leader in the world of glass art dates back to the Renaissance, and the invention of transparent glass in the 15th century. Since then, a long history of innovation has followed and still today, the glass masters of Murano use techniques like aventurine, filigree, and murrine.
The exhibition showcases the modern art of Murano glass by displaying the best pieces of Murano glass from renowned companies.
The Venini workshop modernised Murano glass thanks to innumerable collaborations with illustrious designers such as Alessandro Mendini and Marco Zanini. Berengo Studio combines the centuries-old tradition of Murano glass with contemporary art, working with artists like Luigi Benzoni and Massimo Lunardon.
