The Italian Embassy in Lima and Enel, together with the Culture Ministry of Peru, inaugurated the new lighting system at the Museum of Italian Art in Lima, a gift of Italy to Peru on the occasion of the Bicentennial of Peruvian independence.
The innovative lighting system gave new life to the façade of the building, a memorial to the Peruvian hero of Italian origin, Miguel Grau Seminario, and will valorize the central plaza on which it stands. The Museum of Italian Art was donated to Peru by Italy in 1921, on the occasion of the first Centennial of Peruvian independence.
The façade, which measures over 1,200 square metres., will be illuminated by 36 energy-efficient lamps that highlight the architectural details. In the same way, 69 linear metres of LED lamps illuminate the upper part of the main façade, respecting its original design. The system also consists of various decorative light points in the impressive garden in front of the entrance to the Museum. The Italian Ambassador Giancarlo Maria Curcio and the country manager for Enel Peru, Marco Fragale, together with the President of the Congress of Peru, Maricarmen Alva, the Vice Minister of Culture, Claudia Ruiz and the Director of Prolima, the organization devoted to the preservation of the historical heritage of the city, Luis Bogdanovich, presided at this initial lighting of the monument.
In their messages for the occasion, the authorities wanted to stress how the gift symbolizes the close and lasting bond between the two countries, also thanks to the presence of numerous and well-integrated communities in the respective countries.
