The Comite International d’Histoire de l’Art (CIHA), together with the Italian Cultural Institute in São Paulo and in association, inter alia, with the Getty Foundation and the Goethe Institut, have organised a conference from 17 to 21 January to discuss the phenomenon of migrations, not only of people but also of objects and ideas.
The Congress aims to describe, reflect upon and analyze those different forms of migrations in a concrete, historiographical and theoretical way. Migration has been a fundamental aspect of the human experience since the beginning of the Modern Age, i.e., since the times of the circumnavigation of the world, which provoked displacements of large population groups across all the continents. The aim therefore is to analyze and study the migration phenomenon not only from a historical, political and socio-economic perspective but, starting from the historical basis, explore and expand the perspective of knowledge.
