On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Italy’s Consulate General in New York hosted the traditional ceremony – organised alongside Centro Primo Levi – during which the names of the Italian deportees are read out. This year too the event was held on the sidewalk of Park Avenue, just outside the Consulate and attended live, after the COVID break, by representatives of the State and City of New York, members of the diplomatic and consular community, of the Jewish community and of the Italian and Italian-American communities, and of a number of schools of New York.
The commemoration ceremony was the pivotal moment of a rich agenda of initiatives dedicated to the commemoration of the Shoah, set up through the collaboration with Centro Primo Levi, the Italian Cultural Institute, Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò of the New York University, the Italian Academy of Columbia University, the Calandra Institute of the City University of New York, Scuola d’Italia Guglielmo Marconi, the Center for Italian Modern Art and Magazzino Italian Art.
