A Toronto presentazione libro su Benedetto Croce

For the 70th anniversary of Benedetto Croce’s death the Italian Cultural Institute of Toronto will present the Italian translation of “Benedetto Croce and Italian Fascism” by Fabio F. Rizi and organise the webinar “Benedetto Croce: From anti-Fascism to the birth of the Italian Republic” on Zoom on 24 February (12:30 pm, local time).

The book “Benedetto Croce and Italian Fascism” was firstly published by the University of Toronto Press and the Italian version has now been published by Rubbettino, with the assistance of Fondazione Brigata Maiella. Rizi’s book provides a detailed analysis of the political life of one of Italy’s foremost philosophers (1866-1952), a research based on his political and private life, which proves that his anti-Fascism was active rather than passive. Through a whole raft of documents, including Croce’s private diaries and archive material, Rizi sheds light on the portrait of a renowned Italian intellectual figure, unveiling new aspects and clarifying some misunderstandings concerning his involvement in Italian politics and the stance he took against Fascism, until his death.

The webinar will be attended, aside from Fabio F. Rizi, by Stanislao Pugliese (Hofstra University), Robert Ventresca (Western University), Marta Herling (Italian Institute of Historical Studies, Naples).
