The centennial of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s birth was celebrated in Teheran with a concert by pianist Giovanni Guidi, held at the residence of the Italian Ambassador, Giuseppe Perrone. The acoustic piano performance, entitled “100 lettere d’amore” (100 love letters) was composed by Giovanni Guidi specifically for the occasion, to commemorate the renowned Italian intellectual and the extraordinary mark he left in Italian culture and society.
The event also stressed the bond the Italian poet had with Iran, the country he chose as a location for his film “Il fiore di mille e una notte” (Arabian Nights). “The presence of Giovanni Guidi and his orchestra in the capital and the exclusive concert dedicated to the famous Italian intellectual, who was so fond of oriental lands – Ambassador Perrone said – clearly show how solid the historical relations between Italy and Iran are and stress the importance the Italian Embassy in Teheran gives to the deepening of cultural relations between the two countries”.
